Hwy 109 Youth

And so I am sure confident that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:6

Hwy 109 Youth is our middle and high school student ministry, led by our youth pastor, Pastor JC. These students are striving to equip themselves with the gospel of Jesus Christ, in order to achieve God’s will in their lives and have a better understanding of the bible.

Our goal is to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those in our church family, community, and beyond though Christian fellowship and love carrying out any missionary work that the Lord leads us to.

We work to keep these students engaged through bible study and fellowship during our Sunday School Class at 10am on Sundays and during Wednesday evening service at 7pm.  They have enjoyed structured bible studies with questions and answer time, crafts, games, and many other activities to help reinforce all they are learning in the bible study.  We also meet out side of the normal service times for fun and engaging activities to allow our youth to build friendships and have the opportunity to put lessons into action.

October 2024 Newsletter

I hope you all had a great month of September! Thank you for your continual support and prayers for our student ministry!

Here is a brief update on what our teens have been learning…

Sunday Mornings: On Sunday mornings, we have started a new series titled “Observing the Supernatural.” This study came out of our previous series where a student asked a great question about the spiritual realm. Most of us have a fascination with the world that we cannot see. I wanted to give our students an in-depth look at the variety of topics this question can cover. During the course of this study, our teens will learn about angels, demons, Heaven, Hell, and the ongoing battle of spiritual warfare.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:10-12

Wednesday Evenings: For Wednesday evenings, we are continuing our study in 1 Peter! I find that this letter is a fantastic place to take our teens to truly understand what it means to be a follower of Jesus! In this study, our teens will learn what church life looked like despite the challenges that early Christians faced.

“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.”
1 Peter 4:12-13

Upcoming this month on October 26 is our annual Trunk-or-Treat from 5-7pm. Last year, we had an excellent turnout and are anticipating the same this year. If you are interested in decorating a trunk please sign up at one of the forms located in the hallway in front of the nursery, vestibule, or in our fellowship hall.

We also are accepting any candy donations which would be most appreciated. Feel free to drop them off at the main office or any of the donation boxes around the church.

As always it's a joy and honor to serve as Youth Pastor at WBC. If there is any way I can be of service to you or your families please let me know.
